Why do we smoke at all?

A frequent question and perhaps the most important of all.

Look.

Thoughts generate behaviour.

Of course. We all know that the mind controls the system, the system does not control the mind.

Knock someone unconscious and they wont smoke at all. Actually, they wont eat or drink either so perhaps we need a better example.

As a smoker, you will have had countless experiences and will have many memories of times when you simply forgot to do it.

You just forgot to smoke. You were about to light up – but then something happened and for a period of time you forgot all about that cigarette.

It can be such a simple thing

  • maybe a knock at the door took that cigarette clean out of your mind
  • a telephone call or sms from that romantic prospect you were keen to pursue
  • a surprise event or news item on the television
  • your neighbour’s dog about to leave his calling card in your front garden unless you stand up or go outside and yell at Fido to take his business elsewhere.

You’ll have countless examples of your own, of course.

The point is this – we can and we DO forget to smoke. Our smoking process can easily be ‘hijacked’, if you like.

The mind controls the system, the system does not control the mind.

There are other times too when, for a while at least, smoking is just not an issue.

On aeroplanes, in hospitals, at a friends house or even in some public places we can find ourselves unable and unbothered that we cannot smoke to a greater or lesser degree.

It just doesn’t come up.

Thoughts generate behaviour.

Perhaps better said as ‘Poor thoughts generate poor behaviour’.

Or even ‘Our smoking thoughts generate our smoking behaviour’.

Some people – many thousands, have been  able to STOP ON THE SPOT  as soon as their decision was made,  never doubt that decision  and be completely free and happy for the rest of their lives.

Surely, Ian, once stopped a person is free. So why FREE FOREVER?

In many methods – that can work – the smoker is left with what I call a ‘Black Box’ in his or her experience. And that can be fatal.

Ok, so what do I mean by ‘Black Box’?

A ‘Black Box’ in this context refers to a part or a process that the smoker does not understand or has no access to, or one that requires someone else to carry out. An example here might be hypnosis. Many smokers may be helped by hypnosis but the process can result in a ‘Black Box’ – in the event of any problem, the smoker may be helpless.

Look. You’d NEVER RISK a black box in your business, so why allow one in this VITAL AREA of your life?

Now, I don’t know about you but, I was NOT about to leave something as crucial to MY FREEDOM to luck.

No way.

See, I HAD to know EXACTLY what had happened, what I had done in order to get free – in the wonderful joyous way that I did.

I thought I knew.

I was WRONG!

A year after I’d stopped, I was looking back over the most marvellous, almost magical, year of my life.

Needless to say my health had improved somewhat!

I no longer coughed.

I didn’t catch colds.

My hands, feet and nose were ALWAYS warm! (This was HUGE  for me. I’d always especially hated this, particularly having cold feet – the ridiculousness of driving open topped cars in the summer but having to keep the heater on full directed at my cold, cold toes – even though my legs were too hot!)

I could run several flights upstairs again without catching my breath or tightening my chest.

Exercise of all kinds became a PLEASURE once more.

My skin felt soft, flexible, smooth and CLEAN.

Everything smelled wonderful!

Vibrant colour had returned to the world in general. Fantastic!

My eyes lost the smoked, yellow, haunted look and became bright white and blue again.

I was sleeping properly for the first time in decades! Oh sweet, bliss filled sleep!  The relief! Strength came flooding back as my body relished NOT FIGHTING all that CLOYING, BURNING, CHOKING, FILTHY GARBAGE. Finally getting the chance to clear, clean, renew, reinvigorate and rejuvenate!

WOW!

As a direct result I felt exponentially stronger, sharper and more focused DAILY!

I could taste things properly and my mouth recovered.

My interest in women and their interest in me MULTIPLIED.

In short – everything had improved dramatically.

And not just physically.

My self confidence had SKY ROCKETED.

My mind was clear and sharp.

All of my social interactions had been massively enhanced!

All of this (and so much more besides) had come as a DIRECT RESULT of ENDING 30 YEARS OF SLAVERY.

I felt FANTASTIC.

 

So – not surprisingly, one year on I found myself reviewing the whole glorious thing.

… and finding a black box.

Right there, in plain sight. When I looked closely.

Although I knew what had happened and could, of course, remember everything, I found that I was unable to detail the SPECIFIC STEPS – my route to freedom, if you like.

I had found a black box in my experience and I resolved to remove it.

That resolution eventually led – 7 years later – to the creation of the Hijack Your Life Back ™ method.
